Article summary
Responses can be flagged two ways:
- Automatically, when the evaluation closes (hostile language, personal information, signs of distress, etc.)
- Manually, by an educator or leader, with a written reason
A flagged response is hidden from every viewer immediately, even after results are released, until an admin reviews it.
Reviewing requires its own permission. You have two options:
- Remove – takes it out for good, no reason needed
- Include – puts it back, requires a written justification
Either way, the decision is final, scores and ratings aren't affected, and the response can't be flagged again. Every flag and decision is logged to a permanent audit record. Other viewers only ever see an "Already reviewed" mark — never who flagged it or why.
How responses get flagged
- Automatic — when the evaluation closes, every text response is scanned for things like profanity or hostile language, personal information, accusatory or aggressive language, and references to self-harm or mental health
- Manual — an educator or leader flags a response from within a published report, and must give a written reason
A manual flag emails you the subject, who flagged it, their reason, and the time — not the response itself. Open the review queue to read it.
Review a flagged response
The review queue requires its own, separately granted permission. You have two options:
- Remove — takes the response out of reports for good. No reason required.
- Include — puts the response back. Requires a written justification.
Either way:
- The decision applies to the whole response — no partial edits or masking
- Scores and ratings are never affected
- The decision is final and can't be reversed by flagging it again
- A response flagged both automatically and manually counts as one item, not two
What happens once a response is flagged or reviewed
- A flagged response disappears from every viewer's report immediately — including the person who flagged it — even if results have already been released
- If it's reviewed and included, it returns with a filled-in flag icon; hovering shows "Already reviewed." Other viewers never see who flagged it, why, or what was decided
- Every flag and decision is written to a permanent audit record — who acted, what they did, their reason, and when
